ummmm what happened to 2019

ok so my last post appears to be april of 2018....   its now January of 2020   wth???

I know I don't keep up on here like I should... but really??  A whole year and three quarters?? yikes!   I really gotta write this down so I remember to get out here on occasion..........

Well over the past howeverlong   I've been sewing... and been knitting.... and trying this and trying that...   I koolaid dyed some yarn and knit it into a pair of fingerless mitts....  that was fun... I did another skein and started a pair of bootie socks...  I have one sock almost done... (sigh)

My major ufo list did get completed in 2018...  i've been pretty good a completeing a whole project...  I do have a couple of things... less than 10 that need to be quilted and or bound......... so that's not bad at all...........

I have a couple of knitting ufo's...   2 or 3 scarves on needles at various stages of completion and a pair of mitts barely started..........

I"ve been doing mini challenges on facebook....  each month a project from a book or a theme...  I like miniature stuff..........

little by little I'm emptying bags and boxes andtrying to organize a bit....  definitely NOT my strong point.......... but its getting there..........  I can see a spot on one of my tables and there's a bit of carpet showing at the other end of the room   lol

yeah... that's gonna be a definite work in progress...........

I need to figure out how to change the cover page on this thing.............

It Sprinter In Indiana

Actually its April... but you wouldn't guess it from outside!  Last friday is was 78... today its 32 and yesterday we had snow and sleet!   I really think someone needs to get some meds to Mother Nature!   lol

So on the UFO front....    for January 10 UFO's were completed..........  For february  there were only 5 but I was busy!  lol   I was at quilt camp and hubby and I were spending our weekends on the road here and there.... looking for Sugar Camps that were operational....  there weren't many this year... the torrential rains pretty much flooded out all of the Maple festivals that were usually go to...  but i made up for it and finished up 12 UFO's for march..........    I have most of the smaller projects done.... they were quick to finish up and I really don't know why I stopped with only 20 minutes work left on them.... (SMH)   the next list is the small project list....  I have several wall hangings that have to be backed..batted and quilted and bound... I think there are maybe 6 or so of those...  I know of at least two large table covers.... and I'm sure of 3 quilts ... one is ready for quilting.. one needs borders and then backed and batted and the other one just needs to be backed batted and quilted and bound.......   I'm thinking if I go thru the pile and get everything that I can ready to quilt... that will be a great timesaver...and once I have a machine and space set up for the quilting I can just keep on going til its done....
I know there is much more in the pile.... and I unfolded one project only to find two more hidden inside... geeeeze!!!

I'm also starting a binding pile again.... so I have projects to do while watching tv or traveling on the road.........

I need to go thru my knitting UFO's and get those listed too...   there aren't many of those.... at least I don't think so....  maybe 5ish??     I'd like to get all of them finished up by years end also.... but we'll see...........  knitting always takes longer than I think it does   lol

I made a quilts of  valor top that will go to the charity person at guild this month as well as a top for the TSC homeless kids project........    I still need to make 2 small quilts for charity as well as about 12 more place mats ( I have four done) for the Meals on Wheels project....     Our guild is also doing Port Pillows....  they go on the seatbelt to protect the port of cancer patients.........  I have 10 of those done and ready to turn in this month also.........     once this stuff is done my charity committments for this year should be complete.... until something else comes up.......

I think next blog i'll try adding some pics of my completed projects here....   oh... I did take a short trip down the "modern" quilt path....   I made a small wall quilt....  it was called  RoadWork I think and was a crosswalk.... yep.... that's right... a crosswalk... apparently this is an intersection that the designer has to go thru on her commute that always is congested....    i'll be sure to get that pic posted..... its... well.....  "modern"    ...   not sure that's a path I want to spend a lot of time on....  but we'll see

Ok... time to get some work done...........      later

January 2018,,, The beginning of a new year

So far this year has been pretty good...   of course it's only January 7th.... but one week down and 51 weeks to go!  lol

I've been working on Bonnie Hunters mystery quilt...   have I ever mentioned that I hate mystery quilts???  Well this one confirms that....  I just don't like piles of pieces that I have no clue what they will become....  its BH so it involves scraps...which is ok... but in involves LOTS of little pieces... and LOTS of parts..  This mystery has now been revealed and is called Ringo Lake....  not at my house... I'm doing Ringo Pond....   I don't have time to make 200 flying geese of one color set and then another set of 200 FG of a second color set....   so I just cut it all in half....   it will still be a nice throw size quilt... and that's the size I prefer....   I am in the middle of finishing up Clue 8... putting the blocks together... I have to add one more row to my 25 blocks...   then Clue nine which is more cutting and piecing..........   I think there are only 9 clues....     Clue 4 was a bit tricky....  I had a "run-in" with my rotary cutter....I'm down to small bandages now.. but it still can't go without protection...twice yesterday I pinned a block to my bandage  lol

On the knitting side of things I've restarted my 2016 Project Peace Cowl...   it had one row on it...(guess I wasn't very peaceful in december of 2016)   now it has 4 rows...  the rows are over 300 stitches and take me about 30 minutes to do the pattern stitch...  they are a 4 row set and there are 20 sets total...  my goal is to do one set minimum per week...........

I also tried dyeing a sock blank with koolaid...   its pretty neat...  the first one I did was by sprinkling the koolaid on to the wet sock blank....  that got a little weird but now that its dry it looks kinda neat...  the other one I dissovled the koolaid in a bit of water... maybe two ounces....and painted it onto the sock blank...  that got kinda bold...and I think I might like it....  we'll see when I start to knit them up.  Sock blanks are 9x33 knit pieces.... and you can knit right from the blank without having to roll it into a ball first........   we'll see how that works...........i'll get some pics posted here at some point of what it looks like before I start knitting on it..........

So that's where it is right now...   i'm working on UFO lists...   I finished up 26 total quilting last year...  empty binding bucket...so I don't have too many left to go for this year..........  I finished up two knit ufo's... and have about 4 or 5 started that need finishing or undoing...........

Keep it safe..............

Time flies when you're having fun

Its been a busy few months....  I have a total of 22 UFO's completed.  The binding bucket is empty.... my list for Christmas is ready and my knitting is still where it was in march... lol.

I've been working on a Crocheted Owl Blankie for a friends great grandchild back home in PA....  I have all of the pieces crochetd now ( about 18million pieces I think) and now its ready to be put together.  I'll be sure to post pics of this when it's complete... it was fun... a bit challenging...and something i've not done before...

Inbetween I've been working on some fun swaps with my Flickr friends, roadtripping with the hubster and working.  Work is getting busy again as school starts in a month from today....  It amazes me how some kids know so much and are so worldly and others don't even know how to write a check.........

I took my first trip to the National Quilt Museum in Kentucky a few weeks ago....  I came out of there feeling quite inadequate as a quilter... geeeze....  I can't even imagine how they come up with some of these ideas!  wow!   I'm not an art quilter...so there's that... and I felt right at home in the mini quilt section.   Some of the art stuff was political to say the least... and one that I remember the most was a simple pedestal... with a large glass laying on its side with assorted greens and browns fabric coming out of it... simply titled    Flint Michigan..........  geeze.............

I also went to Hancocks of Paducah....huge place.... massive inventory....very friendly people.... and made a trip to the Quilt in a day Store....no  eleanor wasn't there   lol....  My very first quilt was a QIAD Block Sampler.... I still have it...   its a bit worn now... as this was done over 30 years ago I would guess...  I have most of her books and have made dozens of her projects.

We also made a stop in Effingham Illinois... I visited a shop called the Wooden Spool which was really a fun place!  Lots of fresh variety and friendly staff..........  I also went to an Amish shop in Arthur IL...   things were fine until I asked about Halloween fabric....  geeze....  don't ever ask an amish person about Halloween....  well now I know!!!

Off to Ohio in a bit to check plots with the hubster and probably visit a shop or two on the way  (BSG)

I hope to have pictures of the blankie and some other projects the next time we meet!

Happy Sewing   and if you are keeping track....   you only have about 24 weeks til Christmas!!

Been a Busy Few Weeks

Over the last 6 or 7 weeks I've completed 5 ufo's... made 25 little goodie bags for the ladies in my Bitty Swap at guild...went to Quilt Camp for the first time...completed a small Fancy Forest Quilt, 2 small Atkinson table toppers and a group project Trash Bag for the car!   I also did two mini mania challenges and started a third as well as worked on a Tryptich for a mini swap...........   whew!!

Here are a few of the pics............

The top photo is the Elizabeth Hartman Fancy Forest Small Quilt... It was so much fun to do!   The middle photo is the car trash bag and the bottom photo is the Atkinson Small Happy Holidays's table mats

There are photos on Flicker of the January and February mini mania challenges and hopefully by next week i'll have photos of the Tryptich.

January UFO's were a 30's Row by Row Quilt from about 4 years ago and a pair of placemats called Carved in Stone made with Stonehenge fabrics....
February UFO's are a very old and very ugly hunters star large mat... a bath mat and another set of placemats ( still have 2 more sets of placemats to finish)
over christmas I finished up the bindings on 41 assorted projects ranging from small challenges to a large 30's quilt....
I'm hoping to keep up the UFO work and finally get them ALL done!!
I also completed two projects for our April Guild meeting featuring SnugglesQuilts.  I did her small applique sheep and a scrappy table runner.  We hope to have many of her projects made by our members to hang around to surprise  her when she comes........  those pics are also out on flickr.

www.flickr.com/sewwunderful

will take you to a treasure trove of fun pics!!

Guess that's it for this episode of  Time to Get Back on Track!!!

Archeological Dig

One of the things I did over winter break was go on a "dig" through the sewing pit.... oh goodness.... so many wondrous things were found.... and quite a few not so wondrous things...........   I have some things separated to give away and some to go to GoodWill and some that I just haven't a clue yet what to do with!   It was fun though.... a trip down memory lane   lol

My binding bucket is empty!!  totally and completely empty!  I finished up all the bindings by new years eve... a total of 41 ( yes!  fourty one) projects are now bound and complete.... they ranged from a couple of mug mats to lots of place mats, table mats and table runners... some wall hangings and a quilt!

During the dig I found 3 of 4 25" blocks...........plus the charm pack to make the fourth... of course finding the pattern involved an even deeper dig... but I found it and did the fouth block and joined them together....   so I now have a 50 x 50 square to go on the ufo pile....  good thing there are a couple of UFO challenges going on..........  the block was made using up one entire charm pack.... truly... all that's left are a few slivers from trimming..  it's called Big Star Little Star and as soon as I take some pics I'll get it posted.....  it was a fun block to make............

I have several UFO's now that need quilting and binding...........  I have two lists... one for the on line challenge and one for our guild challenge........   with any luck I'll have all of them complete by the end of the year....  this group has a couple of mat size quilts, couple of throw quilts... one full quilt and two turning 12 quilts...   it's actually supposed to be turning 20... but I make them with just 12 fats instead of twenty for a throw size quilt.........  hmmmmm  guess I need to lay in a supply of quilt batting!!  lol     I think i'll put the quilts on one list and the smaller stuff on the other list so I'm not trying to do two full quilts in the same month.........   that might work!!!

Nuff for now.........  i'll get more pics posted on flickr.com for those who like to see the pics of what's been accomplished

Moving into 2017

Well I've reduced that mountain of binding down to a molehill!   I finished up 25 assorted place mats and table mats....  I have 14 assorted table toppers, mugmats and small wall hangings pinned and ready leaving one 30's quilt left in the binding bucket!  Wow!  I'm hoping to finish up the last 14 today...

I've been going thru baskets, bags and buckets and trying to clean up the pit a bit... I have two tables cleared off ( OMG flat surfaces to work on!)  and it seems the more I dig into the more things I find!

I found a pretty blue bag..........  inside that pretty blue bag I found a thimbleberries wallhanging from 2008...a 30's quilt ( yes... I like 30's)  and an assortment of other small wallhangings that now need to be quilted.........  not sure what I want to do with that thimbleberries thing... it's a huge wall hanging   60x60 and its a giant house with flowers........  that was the only year I was in the TB club...  somewhere I have some fabric that I can probably piece into a backing for it if I decide to keep it........ I'll thnk about it more when I get back to it

Also made two ties.........and a small little change purse type wallet.... really cute and used up a tiny bit of scraps..........

On the knitting front I've been trying to work on my Cascade 220 paint scarf... it's just about half way... that's about the only knitting i've been doing...

and.....................    I got a new sewing/embroidery machine... her name is Emily Grace and she's a Janome MC9900.  She has a bit of a learning curve as my embroidery machine for the last 15 years has been a brother ULT.......... but she's wonderful and she's fun and I'm sure we will get along just fine!!

That's it for now.......  I'm going to venture back into the archeological dig that's going on in my sewing pit...... have a mini mania challenge to work on...   more bout that another time

Have a safe and wonderful 2017

Christmas 2016 is moving right along!!

I can now report that 90% of my christmas 2016 is complete!   YES!!!!!    everything that I need to take back to PA with me over thanksgiving is done.............   one more package coming in the mail for the hubster and he is done........... just a few trinkets to make for work... mugrugs and such.... and a couple of little giftie trinkets.......... that won't be needed til december!!

I've had a good couple weeks............   (beaming proudly)   Pics on flickr..........

I've added another goal to my list........ for the sewing pit....  I have massive amounts of scraps....... to me scraps are anything less than 1/2 a fat quarter..........   i'm going to go thru them all and the largers scraps will go on a pile to be used for things like change purses, name tags, scrappy table runners etc....  smaller scraps will be cut into 3 3/4" squares and 2 1/2" squares for the two scrappy quilts i'm planning............  anything less than 2 1/2" will go in a large bag and  given to someone who does crumb quilts........
I'm pretty sure someone at my guild will give them a good home....   I also have a large pile of selvedges too........... need to decide on keeping or giving those too.......

I started knitting something different.......... yoga socks... they don't have toes and they don't have a heel  :-)     easy peasy to make!
one sock is almost done and the next one will go quickly......  this is a gift for a friend............   I also finished up a pair of fingerless mitts for another friend gift.......  just need to add the buttons to it to bling it up a bit...........

So all in all....things are moving right along!

Hope your Christmas season is going well too!!

Where oh where has all the time gone???

My last post was June of 2015!  What?????  It's now October of 2016...  I think I fell into a time warp and just now emerged......   I even have a weekly reminder on my calendar that tells me to come here and post!

Well I'm going to try to get this thing going again.........   I did much better when I was more accountable.   I have done quite a bit over the missing year.... so that was good............ I have 5 remaining UFO's to complete... that's all.... and they are all at the stage where they need to be backed and batted and quilted and bound.........    I have a very large pile of binding that needs to be done....  now that winter is here I will work more on that pile...  it's mostly table toppers.... placemats... runners and I think there is just one quilt in the bottom of the pile......   I enjoy binding... for me it's very relaxing.........

I will admit that alot of my spare time has been taken up by various forms of Candy Crush.....  perhaps the binding will replace that........... (we'll see)

I've been working on my knitting also...   right now I'm down to 3 in progress and one on the back burner..   I have a diamond kerchief about half way done....  I have a zig zag scarf about 1/4 of the way done and boot cuffs 3/4 of the way done....   actually there are two on the back burner... one is a beaded scarf....  and one is silk yarn kerchief..........    not bad considering.....................

2016 is almost over   but I hope to have the three started projects completed and then 2017 will be to complete the silk kerchief and the beaded scarf.........   I need new socks too!!!

As always most pictures will be put on flickr.... i will do some here.... but the majority of stuff will go on flickr... in fact.... why not hop on over there and check it out now?

www.flickr.com/sewwunderful

I'm going to update this blog and start it for 2017......... I am going to do my best to keep up with things too..........   we'll see how that goes.............   but at least for today... I'm back!!!

Thursday, June 18, 2015

OK.....so this is just getting out of hand! lol

It's been a rough winter.......... too much stuff going on.... too much medical stuff...........too much work stuff.... too much stress in general!

Its time now to get back into the swing of things.... find my mojo and get moving!!!

I did a few things over the winter.... not a lot really... only things that I had a committment for.... I've been doing a lot of knitting.... again.... things I have a committment for..........  I have two or three UFO's that I need to finish knitting......and a few quilt ufo's to be done........

I did get some comic book boards and organized my tall fabric cabinet.........  it looks really cool now and I found a lot of stuff I forgot I had..........  geeze..............   that tells me that there is way too much stuff in the pit!

My first goal is to do a major declutter........i'm talking serious dehoarding!!!   I'm going to use it up.... or give it up...........  gift some.... sell some..........  it's just a matter of where to start!   I think I'll just pick a spot and start ......   we'll see how that goes...........

My quilt guild has a quilt show coming up in October.... I might make a couple of mini's for it.... I enjoy making those.... and I think it would be fun to have a few new ones to show.............

that will also help use up stuff!!!

ok.... time to start making a list....       plan the work and work the plan............

I promise to keep you posted on how all this is going.....and post some pics too!   There are a few things on the flickr site    www.flickr.com/sewwunderful

See you soon!

Bonnie Hunter OMG!!!!

I had supper at Arnies last nite with Bonnie Hunter!  YES!!!!!!!!    BONNIE HUNTER!!    We have been waiting THREE years for our time with her and last nite was her nite!!!
What an awesomely creative person!  She is sooooooooooooooooo friendly and soooooooooooooo unassuming....  this is the flipping Queen of the Scrap and she is just like the rest of us!!

She brought many of her quilts to show us and each one was more impressive than the previous one.  She gave us a talk on how to store our scraps and what sizes to cut the leftovers into for future use.   Anything less than a 1/2 fat quarter should be cut up while you have the cutter and ruler in your hand and stored....     colors   and neutrals..........    lights and darks.... no mediums.........  neutrals should not be darker than a brown paper bag.............  my head was exploding by the time I left..........

I do believe my scrap piles are going to be cut and pressed and stacked and stored.......... no more crates and boxes of colors......... nope..... gonna get it organized and get it used!!  so many beautiful quilts to be made without harming any yardage!!  wow!

ok.... i'm going to start plotting and planning now...........   guess what next years theme is gonna be....

lol

visit Bonnie at  www.quiltville.com    grab a cuppa and settle in..............

and just as an aside..............  I am now 99.9% done with christmas 2014!!!  yup   a bit of knitting and a bit of hand sewing... some snaps and some buttons.........!!  woooo hoooooo

Monday, September 29, 2014

Ok.... I surrender!

Seems to me that time is just getting away from me!  It's almost OCTOBER!!  88 days left til christmas... yikes!

I haven't been much into sewing or quilting these days... doing only what I have to....and nothing more.  My MO and JO haven't been meshing...........  i've been knitting............. easy peasy simple stuff... a shawl.... a sweater.........a ton of scarves and fingerless mitts............  got a couple things on the needles right now that need to get finished up....   a cream/brown shawl.... entrelac scarf... another scarf.... taking an online craftsy class to learn cables...so that scarf is still on the needles.... I have one slipper sock done.......... and 1/2 a baby hat.........  lol

I did get my whole cloth hand quilted bitty blocks done and off in the mail........... and i'm going to be doing winter snowglobes for october and november..............  the creative brain seems to be coming out of the fog...........so maybe.... just maybe....

I spent friday and saturday at day camp sewing and chatting and learning so i think that helped also.......  ya just never know!  lol

Maybe soon I'll have some fun stuff to tell you all about............and pictures too!  I plan to make snowballs for the little ones for christmas... .that way they can have indoor snowball fights when it's too cold and snowy to go out...   of course for that to happen I need to get my butt in gear!  lol

I have been sticking to the Scraps only promise for this year..........  so that's a good thing...........  i've also been culling the herd so to speak and getting rid of stuff that won't ever be used.... stuff I didn't even know I had and stuff I have no idea why I have..........  It's going to a couple of charities so that's a good thing too........

so I will be back................ soon I hope..........with pictures of stuff...........snowballs and table mats and placemats and scarves and socks and stuff!

whew!!!

July?? Really?? Again?

Where does the time go?? I just don't understand.........one minute its may and then it's July.... hmmmmm   maybe there is a rip in the space-time continummm??

A few things have been completed....  the black and gold wall hanging is up on my office wall... the icecream quiltlet got done in time for the ice cream party......... my mittens now have thumbs and the sparkly scarf is finished..........

My sweater is ready to have the sides sewn up and the front band added and a shawl is almost at the halfway point...........  it seems I haven't been doing as much sewing/quilting as I had in the past and not sure why.......  I've been doing my guild committments... name tags and row by row....  not much going on in swapland.........but I have been doing my bitty blocks............the baby quilts are still in the same stage as they were in May..........I really need to get them done since babies will be coming soon!!!

I did knit two of the cutest little sweaters for babies!  One is very tiny and just so darn cute! The other is a bit bigger and yellow with little duck buttons and adorable.........  hmmmmmmmm wait a minute.... seems my knitting projects are outnumbering my quilting and sewing projects.......hmmmmmm  perhaps that's the thing??  Guess I need to assess the time spent on knitting vs the time sewing and maybe even them out a bit more.............  hmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm still sticking to the scrap project goal and what I have done has been done with scraps.... I'm wanting to make another GPS quilt....  I love mine and would like to make another one......... I know I can use up a ton of scraps in that!!   My sewing pit really needs a good going over......... it seems to have gone down hill pretty much during this past winter and maybe that's another reason i'm not sewing...........  hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Have a long holiday weekend coming up so maybe I can get in there and do something.... like find the top of my cutting table............ I think its time to donate some of the stash to Quilts for Kids or somewhere........ the Vet Home also takes craft stuff........ so it's time to load up the trunk with stuff I know I'm never ever gonna use!!    I'll let you know how that goes next time!

There are some pics out on flickr if you are so inclined..........i hope to have the sweater done by mid July and then decide on some blingy embellishments maybe............. and the shawl by the end of July..... I will be sooooooooooooooooooo ready for winter!  lol

Ok  ...  till next time.... whenever that may be!

Happy whatever makes you happy!

Really?? Two months have flown by!

Yep.... well actually only 6 weeks    lol     Winter is finally over and things are returning slowly to normal.  Hubby is up and about... the wheel chair is gone... the boot is gone and all that remains is an occasional use of the cane.......

He's back to doing some of the things he did before the ** event  ** in January and his office is now moved back downstairs to where it was.........

I'm finally able to get some time in the sewing pit.... and it has become a HUGE pit over the winter.... I have a few things that need finishing up...........  a pillow for a graduation present...........a pink baby quilt.........a scrappy baby quilt for an unknown gender........ and several months of Farmers Wife Sampler Blocks.........along with a wall hanging for my office at work.   Our guild is having an ice cream social in june and we are to make a small quilt   .... no smaller than 8" and no larger than 24" .... ice cream related... I have an idea in my head and half of it on paper........ I even have a pile of fabrics that would work nicely.........

Right now the pillow top is done..........the squares are waiting to be sewn together for the pink baby quilt...... the plan is in place for the unknown baby quilt.........  the FWS blocks have been put under the other stuff.... the strips have been sewn together for the wall hanging.... ready for triangles to be cut and sewn together.     On the needles is the gray blingy scarf.... about 8" left and that will be done.... two thumbs need to be put on the pink flap mitts......... and the sweater is about 1/2 way complete... I need to finish the back and right front.... then the right sleeve and the wide band that goes around the front and neck.............   I'm really not stressing over any of this..........  the pink quilt should be done by june 15th to go back east with us.... but if not.... I'll mail it............ the unknown should be done by July 15th... but if not...  I'll mail it!  the scarf and sweater and mitts should be done very soon but since I can't wear them anyway right now they will get done when they get done!  The graduation present should be done this weekend, but she's going on a SA trip to Japan and then she'll be back for grad school so I'll get it to her this summer sometime............   the FWS blocks... hmmmm well the January blocks are done......... 1/2 of the february blocks are done............ the rest of february will get done when they get done and when they are done March will be worked on............the ice cream quilt will be done if there is time........but if it's not done.... then it's not........

i think i'm liking this new attitude of mine............  we'll see what the end of May brings............

pics are going on flickr as things are finished... so you can always check there for progress... I take pics of the sweater at various times and you can see it growing.... it's made cuff to cuff..... and as I said... I'm on the down hill side now...........

I have my christmas gift list done........and a few kits made up............ my list has gotton smaller over the last year or so and starting in July gives me lots of time to get that stuff finished up........

so all in all............  things are good..........

see you in a few weeks... hopefully with lots of progress completed... and if not.... well then I'll just see ya in a few weeks

March has somehow disappeared from my calendar

It's march!  Actually it's only march for one more day... Time is flying by way too quickly.  Hubby is progressing...slowly.  He's doing much better and becoming a bit more mobile.  April he gets the screws out and will work on using just the walker.  After that heals we will work on using just the boot and by the middle of May we should be walking pretty much normal again.  Yay

I've been getting about two hours or so a week in the sewing pit.   Not much time for sure but I try to make the most of it.  I'm pretty far behind on my farmers wife blocks but once I get my April guild row by row done I can concentrate on getting those all caught up.  I have bitty blocks due the end of May so I'm in pretty good shape right now.  I'll have the entire month of April to get caught up

I have two projects for work that need done also.   A wall hanging for a very large blank wall and a curtain for a cabinet to hide our cooking supplies....

On the needles right now is a sweater. That's coming along ok right now.  I try to do two rows each nite...and hope to be at the next step by April 20th. It's a cuff to cuff sweater.   I also have to finish my flap mitts.  I Hal
Be one flap and two thumbs to complete on those and That's
the first of what I plan to have for next winter.  I need some boot cuffs and leg warmers if next winter is anything like this past winter was

I'll be posting some pics tonite on flickr so check it out if you get a chance

Til next time

The best laid plans.................

Ok so I had a plan!  Beginning in January I would post weekly.....  I would show the scrap projects that are the focus of this year............. I would be productive............

and then..............

the Hubster fell on the ice at work...............  broken leg and shattered ankle...........

so my plans fell to the wayside while I play nurse...........    and you need to understand... I'm emergency services... not long term care.... so this has been an adventure for sure!!    He's finally to the point where he can do a few things on his own..........so that gives me a bit of time to sew and and catchup on computer stuff.......

I am, however, getting some knitting done......  I made a new pair of fingerless mitts for myself and finished a UFO pair of fingerless mitts that will be going off to my mom this week...........  there are pictures on flickr........  I finished a pair of socks........... and I have a dishcloth ufo to finish and a scarf to finish....  the scarf isn't quite a UFO yet... but I need to get working on it so it stays as a WIP... plus when that's done... I want to try to make some of those fingerless mitts with a flap that look like mittens.......

After this horrid winter....  I'm planning on lots of scarves and mitts and a pair of leg warmers for next winter.......  we've had something like 40 inches of snow in January......and horribly cold below zero temps... so with hubster being laid up... the snow removal also falls to me..........  I'm getting pretty good at weilding the snow blower and making it do things it was probably never meant to do!  lol   The weather guy says one more snow storm..........and then warmer temps... .like the 50's..........which means lots of melting and flooding..........I already have a plan on how to shovel little pathways to take the melting snow out to the drain..........  we'll see how that goes.........

I'll be doing the Row by Row again this year for guild...  our group is doing a miniature version.... 4 1/2" blocks... so that's gonna be lots of fun.............Once I get my sewing time back again I'll also be doing the Quilts for Kids tops........... and I'm still doing the Peace Love Quilt charity blocks on flickr........  I need to put the top together with the blocks that were sent to me.... hmmmm better write that on the list!!

I'm also doing a Farmer Wife Sampler sew along on Craftsy.  Each month there are 10 blocks to do....and there are simpler ways to cut and sew the blocks so this should be fun.  I've wanted to do this for about 3 years now and just didn't have the time to fiddle with some of the blocks... this should help me stay on track..........  plus it will be a scrappy quilt... so i'll be using scraps for each block.  The plan is to try to use the same color families that the book uses....but just in scrappy form.........   I have most of my January blocks done.... 4 more I think to go.... then on to february...so hopefully by the end of february i'll be back on track with those also........

The hubster should be back to being mobile and functional by the end of March.............

Oh... the picture on the blog this time is the Tokoyo Subway Quilt I did in 2011 or 2012.... I don't remember but it got finished as a UFO in 2013............... that also was all done with scraps....even the whites were scraps and leftovers.........that's just there to help keep me on track.........

As usual   pics will be out on  www.flickr.com/sewwunderful   and hopefully at some point I'll be putting some on here too.........

So til the next time....  whenever that might be.............

Happy Holly-daze  and Merry Christmas to all

Ok.... I repeat......... what the heck happened???

It's now December............  last post was August??? seriously???    ok so my resolve for 2014 is to post on a regular basis!

I currently have 22 UFO finishes for this year......... the last one was that white knit lace scarf.... it is now done... fringed...and packaged up to send to my mom as a surprise for christmas...........

I have two more small ufo's that I want to finish yet to bring my total to 24 for the year....  that will leave me with about 6  ufo's unfinished ......... at least two of them are going in the box for the guild auction........... and the others.... well... I've not decided yet about them......... but by the 31st a decision will be made.... they will either be finished......... or gone!

2014 will be my Scrapmaster Tour ........... My huge accumlation of scraps and selvedges will be reduced to nothing!  I plan on doing a couple of Bonnie Hunters Scrap Quilts....  Geese on the Line is one of the first to be done......... I will make scrappy geese.......however, I'll be using Eleanor Burns way of making geese..........  that's the plan!  Bonnie is coming to our Guild in November of 2014 and I would really like to have a couple of her quilts done to show to her...........

Christmas 2013 is pretty much in the bag!  I have two ties to complete this weekend.  They will be given to hubby early......... he needs them for his ASTA conference next week.  Since it seems that no one prints soybeans on fabric.... I headed off to Spoonflower and designed my own!  Thats what I'll be using for his ties........  there will be pics when the ties are done............he has two soybean committee meetings so one new tie for each meeting!!

I'll make the cats some new toys right before christmas... just to keep the spirit going........... and then after a bit of house cleaning......... The scrapmaster tour 2014 will commence!

I will post here often..............  I'll even put pictures here for those who don't go to flickr........  I resolve to do better for 2014

Whatever your reason for the season............... maybe it be all that you want it to be....

Be safe...........   Be well............  Be Merry!

what the heck happened???

It seems I've totally lost july and we're halfway thru august!!!  I have been productive though.... I have now finished my GPS quilt!!  It's going along to guild with me on wednesday for show and tell too!

I've done 9 quilt tops for Indiana Quilts for Kids.......  trying to do 3 a month for them.... I've taken a toe up sock class and have 1 and 1/2 socks completed... just the heel and leg on the second sock to go.....I think I like this toe up thing.......... I've done blocks for the Peace Love Quilt charity group on flicker and a couple of swaps.... all done and in the mail!!  everything I needed to do for August is DONE!!!

today I did a couple of burpers...and 3 campus clutches... which are small zippered pouches with a pocket on the front for your ID............  I'm going to try one out and see if I like it and maybe replace the one I've been using like forever!!

Read a couple of books....  NO Impact Man..... Under the dome and ummmmm can't remember the third one...........something large............

played a bunch of Papa Pear saga and more Candy Crush than I care to admit...........  lol

School is back in session now... so the next two or three weeks will be super busy..... then it should settle and I can get back into my usual routine......... sewing.... and POSTING!!   I'm also starting an Accelerated Clerical Excellence Program at Purdue but I don't think that will be too much of an impact on my routine.........

Pics of everything are on flickr     www.flickr.com/sewwunderful

Have a great rest of the summer!!

And another one bites the dust!!!

Another month has just flown on by!!!  Half of 2013 is gone........but I have completed 16 UFO's so far!!  So that's a good thing.

the ufo pile is dwindling...and the wob pile is growing........although some of the UFO's have their bindings done also.....

The Glitter Card Trick table topper is done............the turning twenty and GPS are backed and batted and on the to be quilted stack......... a couple more skinny mini runners have been quilted and bound but that darn white scarf just doesn't seem to want to be finished!  lol   I'll be heading out next week on a mini vacay and it's going with me.... it's the only thing going with me so I will have to work on it and I WILL FINISH IT!!!!  I want it done!

Not much else has been going on........... there are a few new projects out on Flickr... practice bags for a triple zip swap and a few other pretties to look at..........

another week and the 25Weeks til Christmas project starts........ that will be fun for sure and I have my list all made up and I know how much I have to do each week to get it all done before Thanksgiving... which will be here before I know it!!

I've started doing Hexies again.... as an I'm Bored.... project and I've gathered some embroidery floss and patterns together and hope to do some hand embroidery work also........ its been while since I've done more than just a bit... so I got a book to remind me of how to do some of the more complex stitches too.......  so we'll see how that goes!!!    I think the main thing is I need to stay away from the Candy Crush game and work on this stuff while I watch tv instead of playing that infernal game!   I swear its more addicting than crack!   lol

I've also decided that next year will be the year of the scrap.  Those things breed!!! and I have enough scraps to probably do 6 king size quilts with no problem!   I plan on doing Bonnie Hunters Geese on a String... and probably a scrappy Trips quilt.  What ever I do next year will be scrap before cutting anything whole!   yep...it's gotta be a scrappy year!   The year of the UFO is working well and i'm sure I will have at least another 12 more completed before the end of the year...........so I have great hopes for the Year of the Scrap too!

ok.. till next time
